Ladies and Gentlemen. It’s tune time.

8 Bit Residents Def Starr have been dropping this banger for the last couple of weeks and literally torn the dancefloor in two. So now is the time to share.  Slapstick began as adventurous experiment for Junior (L&P) and Second Letter (Def Starr), which soon led to ear to ear grins and impulse movements also known as jamming. After 24 hours, Slapstick was born. Sampling the legendary James Brown and a sneaky rendition of Lano and Woodley, the aptly named tune is hilariously party.

Unfortunately after such a spill, we can’t share the original with you due to something something… (You will see soon enough)

However! The Redial remix is ready to share and burst eardrums. So without further ado.

Loot & Plunder And Def Starr – Slapstick (Redial Remix)
Drugs, Dirty Dancing, And Pounding Pounding Fucked Up Shit.

And just because it’s wednesday, and we love wednesdays.

Phoenix – Fences (Def Starr Version)
This spaced out summer jam reached #1 on Hype Machine twice in a week.

Monarchy – Gold In The Fire (Def Starr Remix)
Wuss Dance Rave Disco. Hitting #2 on Hype Machine after a day!

MY HEART IS BEATING

Guitar_by_ashzstockOk, this track has it all. I seriously will put my hands down and say this is the best track of 2009. It’s dubstep, but not as you know it. This track has had me pull my air guitar out of the closet, and jump around on my bed all week. I literally couldn’t wait any longer, you just have to hear this.

Nneka – Heartbeat (Chase & Status Remix) 320kbps
This has something to appeal to everyone, good vocals, amazing guitar riffs, huge build ups, massive drops. Belter & A Half.

8 BIT KIDZ GETS A NEW LOOK

m-headerI’m excited, today many things have changed in the world of 8 Bit Kidz. We got a new writer, Adele. Who seemed to lack a solid introduction so I’ll help her out… She is actually dating the incredible talented, and over blogged Swick, she resides in Melbourne and has fantastic taste in music. I thought it was only right to give her a guest spot on 8 Bit Kidz!

We also, incase you haven’t noticed… have a new layout for the site. So welcome to 8 Bit Kidz 2.0, you should find this update a lot easier to navigate around and it looks twice as amazing. If not thrice. We hope you enjoy it!

And last but not least, I have been blessed with many a new tune for your audible pleasure. It’s evident that Nu Disco is becoming a more dominant force and growing evermore popular by the day, and I don’t think this a bad thing. Especially with summer on the horizon for us Australians!

So here’s what’s been getting alot of airtime in iTunes this week!

Ali Love – Deminishing Return (Extended Mix) 320kbps
Here’s something you may or not know, Ali Love laid down the vocals for The Chemical Brothers massive track “Do It Again” . I’m the first to admit, he was definitely slept on by me. But I saw this and for some reason was drawn by the title and gave it a listen. Or 20. This is a really heart felt wuss dance tune! Get stuck in…

Monarchy – Gold In The Fire (Demo) 320kbps
Oh the pleasure, I have been listening to this track non-stop all week and I think it’s about time you all joined me. These guys are going to be huge, no doubt. Fresh out of London town and ready to take over the world. Monarchy is just a name you can’t miss. Wow.

Jupiter – Mama Used To Say 320kbps
If you don’t remember this track from your youth, then your probably too young… All the better! This version of Juniors – Mama Used To Say, is an instant classic. The small build up intro is amazing right before it drops into some incredibly funky synths and vocals! Get your stereo, turn it up, and jam!
Jupiter are an incredible duo from Paris and I massively look forward to hearing more from these two. Amazing stuff!

Fenech Soler – Lies (The Phantoms Revenge Remix) 320kbps
Another group from the UK, Fenech Soler have been around for a little while longer then Monarchy, and definitely have a more defined sound. I’m a big fan of these guys and have been since their first EP dropped some time ago. They are starting to get a lot of attention on blogs and there is no wonder why. Lies is a massive tune and has been reworked by the always beautiful The Phantoms Revenge. Keep your eyes peeled for the video of this one too.

If you’re pallet is still yet to be satisfied, I have a summer anthem by Vampire Weekend that is gauranteed to make you smile.

Vampire Weekend – Horchata 320kbps

BAG OF HORROR

bagraidersI love days like this, days where I find some amazing things. Today, I found two very amazing things. One of them is courtesy of Bag Raiders and the other Miami Horror. Each beautiful in it’s own way.

It’s been a while since we have heard anything new from Bag Raiders themselves, as they are working hard on their debut album set to release in 2010, they’ve blessed us with some banging originals and remixes over time and have definitely becoming firm favourites in the hearts of many Australians. I was so excited when I saw this mini mix podcast they have done for Bang Gang 12″ I just couldn’t control myself and had to share it with everybody straight away. This mix is a culminating blend of new and old, and in usual Bag Raiders fashion a variety of genres are crossed in a seamless party atmosphere of suprises around every corner.

Bag Raiders – Bang Gang Mini Mix Podcast

1. The Eternals – Wrath Of Zeus
2. Bay City Rollers – Saturday Night
3. Vernon Butch – Get Up
4. Royksopp – Happy Up Here (Breakbot Remix)
5. Beni – Fringe Element
6. DJ Swoosh – Swoosh
7. Solo – Congaloid (Minimow Remix)
8. Felix da Housecat – Like Something For Porno
9. DJ Swoosh – Swoosh (Swooshapella)
10. Classixx – I’ll Get You feat. Jeppe
11. Bag Raiders – Shooting Stars (Kris Menace Remix)
12. The C90s – 10:01 DM
13. Kid Sister – Right Hand Hi (Kingdom Remix)
14. DJ Swoosh – The Swoosherman (reprise)
15. Nicholas – Goldelectric
16. DJ Swoosh – Swoosh (Mr Swooshy’s Nothing But Net Re-rub)
17. Phoenix – Fences (Friendly Fires Remix)

Thoroughly enjoyable.

This video has been circulating the interwebs lately, and for good reason. It’s amazing. It’s an intriguing story of love directed by Rhett Wade-Ferrell and is a seriously enjoyable video clip. What makes it more enjoyable is arguably one of best tracks of 2009. A teaser from their debut album “Sometimes”, Miami Horror have gone above and beyond all expectations with a newer more mature sound. I am massively looking forward to this album. Miami Horror play Rocket Bar on Friday 23rd October

SWICK (SWEAT IT OUT) + AIRWOLF (MELB)

week23We throw parties… Big ones. And this is no exception. If anything, it’s the biggest party we’ve had yet, Swick & Airwolf are heading over from the blessed Melbourne town and shit is going to get ridiculous.

Incase you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, Swick is the newest signee to Ajax’s label Sweat It Out. He is a young mastermind behind huge party-disco tune, Grow Up. Grow Up is set for release this December with remixes from Cassian & maybe some local talent…
The majority of Australias top blogs has been posting this mix around for the last few weeks too, 30 Minutes Of Swick is just incredible.

Swick – 30 Minutes Of Swick

Airwolf is following in the footsteps of his good friend Swick, dropping remixes for indie bands all across Australia. He is also a dope photographer so be sure to check out Airwolf Paradise!

Perfect

PLEASE REDIAL

telephone_by_alinasavinOur good friend Redial (Sweat It Out/Sydney), has sent over two of his new tunes. And both are absolutely mindblowing, steering a little away from his usual cross breed of orchestral and thrash. He has started making some beautiful Nu Disco, still on the harder tip but absolute dancefloor destroyers.

My fingers are crossed that Redial continues traveling down this path of sound, because I’m definitely going to be playing both of these.

Redial – Heart
Dropping on one blog in 128kbps, I think it’s time we share this huge tune. The tremolo on those notes makes me go cold. Massive build up, even bigger drop. HUGE HAPPY TUNE!

Redial – Let Me Go Feat. Nik Valentino
Redials first vocal original, really digging this one. Still on that harder nu disco edge with eery vocals.

HAND PICKED BLISS

fc898dce9c80b11fSunday is inevitable, it comes once every week. It’s the end of the week, but most of the time it feels like the end of the world. This is why I love Sunday.

Here are some hand picked tunes that I like to listen to on a Sunday.

Miami Horror – Don’t Be On With Her (Cyndi Seui Remix)
This is probably the most under played remix off of “Bravado : The Remixes”, a real good day starter. Beautiful choppy vocals, perfect synth hooks and just all round good remix.

Au Revoir Simone – Another Likely Story (Aeroplane Remix)
After her stellar vocals for Friendly Fires – Paris (Aeroplane Remix), it was a matter of time before they were to work together again. This remix is slightly more uptempo for Aeroplane but they still put it off with absolute excellence. The bassline in this track is incredible. I love driving to this song!

Major Lazer – Cash Flow (Classixx Glass Bottom Dub Mix)
I know, when you see Major Lazer you think of that incredibly annoying, yet catchy weird vocal noise from Pon De Floor. Here is something to prove just how amazing Classixx are if you still need persuading after our previous post.

Shazam – Luckier (Original Mix)
Three minutes and fifteen seconds of down tempo sexual bliss. No better way to explain it. Oh, and the lead at 2:15… shivers.

The XX – Shelter (ThemJeans Drum Edit)
The XX are soon going to be a name around town, comparable to the likes of Passion Pit. They are currently getting alot of edit/remix treatment around the blogosphere. This is my favourite so far, their debut album XX is out now. Definitely worth checking out.
